Studies have shown that with a matter of vocal training, not only can pitch and tonality improve (i.e. you SOUND better) but singing can offer many other benefits as well.

These include aspects like rhythm, sight-reading of sheet music and an understanding of harmony and chords. Who doesn’t want to be that person in a group who can pull out the awesome harmonies in an impromptu sing-along? Or maybe the Karaoke completion is more your scene.  It doesn’t matter what your singing goal is, - having expert guidance from a teacher should help get you there faster.

So what is involved in singing lessons? 

For a starter it’s great to have a goal in mind. Where do you want to go with your singing? Why are you learning to master this instrument? Asking the hard questions at the beginning of your tuition is a sure way to ensure success later on. And there are a number of ways goals you can aspire to through learning the proper techniques of singing. Remember that it is all about the breath!  Techniques to control your breathing and diaphragm are the tools to make your voice come alive.  Time spent in lessons working on this one area can make a huge difference, whatever music genre you want to master.

Whether you’re a high school student aspiring to make it into that top choir at school or someone working towards the eight grades that are achievable in singing, your voice grows whilst you learn.
