Piano Teacher In Auckland
Why Paino?
Did you know that the piano was invented around 1700? Since that time it has arguably become the premiere instrument of the concert hall, and indeed the first introduction to music lessons for literally millions of musicians all over the world!
Piano teachers are not all the same. There are countless musical styles and tastes, and therefore the repertoire of available music is incredibly diverse and ever-changing.

Because learning music is both a creative and analytical activity, it is helpful to have a teacher with skills and experience across a variety of musical genres. In general, a formal classical music background will ensure a sound knowledge of musical theory and technical skill, so this type of background is important. For most students however, classical music is not their genre of choice, so teachers that are open to other styles, and especially the areas of improvisation and composition can usually offer a wider musical foundation.
There is a subtle difference between these. Unfortunately there are some excellent pianists, who have an almost unbelievable technical ability, exceptional qualifications, and yet, when asked to sit down and play can only do so with written notes in front of them. Playing by ear is a useful skill, especially for those wanting to play with others, or to learn current popular music. Finding a teacher therefore that will include aural development and harmony (chord) knowledge is very important. |
Why Forte School Of Music?
The Forte School of Music lessons place a high importance on these areas. Not only does this provide a wider foundation for students, it generally means lessons have more variety and are more fun! Whilst some might say you can only measure progress by the level of difficulty of the pieces being played, we believe it is far more important that students have a sound foundation in all musical skills so that they have greater options to choose from in music later in life.
Piano is perhaps the best start of children learning music, with fixed pitch and the ability to play melody and harmony all on an instrument with a logical and visual arrangement of notes. Remember also that piano knowledge transfers to keyboards, synths and basic piano skills are a requirement at most university level music degrees.
Find the right piano teacher and start your child on an exciting voyage of musical discovery!
